We are proud of our partnership and collaboration to extend ventureLAB’s Hardware Catalyst Initiative (HCI) — Canada’s only hardware and semiconductor-focused lab and incubator — by hosting a dedicated Medtech Wet Lab, where we have developed specialized facilities and programming for companies developing medical devices, diagnostic equipment, wellness products that include microelectronic hardware, assistive devices, and digital health solutions.
By providing access to the state-of-the-art Wet Lab — and with the wealth of knowledge from Sterling Industries’ engineers and ventureLAB’s MedTech advisors — founders in the healthcare sector will have access to the valuable resources necessary to overcome the challenges of commercialization and take their solutions from lab to market.
“We’re committed to supporting our thriving MedTech sector here in Vaughan, boosting Canada’s reputation as a leader in medical innovation while creating new jobs,” said David Van Slingerland, CEO of Sterling Industries. These efforts dovetail with the city’s commitment to growing its reputation for innovation in healthcare through the Vaughan Healthcare Centre Precinct. The HCI Wet Lab is part of an $11 million initiative to provide product development lab access to Ontario-based, hardware-focused startups.
The specialized MedTech Wet Lab is hosted within our advanced manufacturing facility, where we fabricate and assemble a wide range of medical devices and equipment for our clients. “We have the expertise and prolific project breadth to help ventureLAB’s innovative Medtech companies validate and optimize their solutions, and are keen to share veteran insights on product development, “ continued Van Slingerland.
Together with ventureLAB’s Medtech advisors, we are building a unique ecosystem that will enable the development of world class, made-in-Canada Medtech solutions, while helping local startups commercialize, prepare and strategically scale their solutions for global markets.
